Press ethics

Afrobeats.no follows the Norwegian press codes: Vær Varsom-plakaten (the Code of Ethics of the Norwegian Press), Redaktørplakaten (the Editors' Code) and Tekstreklameplakaten (the code on advertorials).

Independence and conflicts of interest

The editor alone decides what is published. The publisher gives no instructions on editorial content and respects the editor's freedom, in line with the Editors' Code (Redaktørplakaten).
Afrobeats.no also organises cultural events and has partners. The editorial team does not review its own events or its partners' events.
Where the editor has a connection to a story, writer George Ofori takes over editorial responsibility for that story.
Writer Ari Gautier, who is also a curator at Mela Huset, does not write about Mela Huset's own events.
Sponsored content and partner content are clearly labelled and kept separate from the journalism.
